Ricoh Introduces GXR Camera System That Offers Interchangeable lenses and SensorsSubmitted by lalit on November 9, 2009 - 11:54pm.
While the Micro Four Thirds camera system has still not become the mainstream standard for digital camera. Ricoh is all set to introduce cameras based on their new GXR system. The main feature of the new system will be that it would make both the lens and sensor interchangeable. So, down the road, if a new sensor comes that can take better night photos or offer high megapixel count than your present camera sensor, you can simple replace the old sensor with the new sensor. Also the GXR system would allow smaller camera design. The mockup above shows both the interchangeable lens and sensor system. Ricoh will introduce two cameras based on new GXR system in December. The first camera will have 10-megapixel CCD sensor, VGA video recording and 24-72mm F2.5-4.4 lens for about $850. The second camera system will have 50mm f2.5 macro lens with 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and HD video recording for about $1,000.
