Verizon released three new ads showcasing poor 3G coverage offered by AT&T, even though, AT&T has filed a lawsuit against Verizon for airing misleading ad campaign. According to survey done by YouGov, the risk that Verizon it taking by airing these commercials is paying off big time.

YouGov’s BrandIndex scores show that since Verizon started airing the new ad campaign in October, their brand perception score has gone up from 8.3 to 24.2, whereas, AT&T’s score has gone down from 1.4 in October to -2.4 on November 6th. The BrandIndex score range from -100 to 100 and is based on survey of 5,000 people each weekday in US. The AT&T vs. Verizon survey was target at 18- to 34- year-old demographic and the respondents were asked “Would you recommend the brand to a friend?”

YouGov says that AT&T and Verizon were comparable in the latter half of October, but Verizon score jumped once the aggressive ad campaign was in full force. AT&T’s brand image is seriously suffering from the bad press coverage it is receiving because of dropped calls, spotty 3G coverage and slower download speed in major cities like New York and San Francisco. We have added videos of three new Verizon ads below.
