Nintendo Wii Regains Top Spot in Console SalesSubmitted by lalit on November 14, 2009 - 6:32am.
After rising to top in September, PS3 again conceded the top spot to Nintendo Wii in October. According to the latest data from NPD group, Nintendo sold 507,00 Wii units in US, followed by Sony with 321,000 PS3 units and Microsoft with 250,000 Xbox 360. “Hardware sales were down 17 percent in units for the month with the Wii and the Xbox 360 decreasing the most compared to October 2008,” Anita Frazier wrote in industry note from NPD. “Compared to last month, which was a five week month as compared to four weeks this month, Wii, PSP and NDS sales increased on an average sales per week basis, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 declined. This October is the third best October on record, behind October 2007 and October 2008.” The analyst estimates that November and December will be stronger than October, as has traditionally been observed.
