Few Macbook owners have been reporting issues with the new glass trackpad that fails to register ever physical click. Apple today released a software update to address this problem. The release note for the update says “This firmware update addresses an issue where trackpad clicks may not be recognized on MacBook (Late 2008) and MacBook Pro (Late 2008) systems.”
Ars Technica is advising users to be caution while updating the firmware as their Project Manager Clint Ecker’s MacBook Pro froze up and the music he was playing started skipping in an infinite loop for several minute after starting the update. So in short, like most firmware updates, it’s advisable to quit all the programs before starting the update and make sure that you have a backup if something goes wrong.
Apple also warns “The trackpad will not respond during the update. Do not interrupt the update. Do not shut off the power on your Mac while the update is in progress and make certain the power cord is attached to a power source.”
