Toshiba has introduced 64GB embedded NAND flash memory module, which the company claims is highest capacity in the industry. Toshiba combines sixteen 32Gb NAND chips fabricated using 32nm manufacturing technology to make the module. According to Toshiba, each module will offer up to 1,070 hours of music (128Kbps), 8.3 hours of 17Mbps high-definition video and 19.2 hours of 7Mbps standard definition video. Toshiba will start shipping the 64GB NAND flash module in Q1 2010. For average consumers this means that we will see iPhone with 64GB memory or iPod touch and similar devices with up to 128GB memory, making them ideal replacement for hard drive based media players.
