Intel today revealed some details about its upcoming processor lineup that will be introduced at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2010). Intel will showcase 17 new processors at CES, which will include the new Core i3 and Core i5 processors. Both the processor lineup will be based on Nehalem microarchitecture and will be made using 32nm process technology.  This will make the new processors smaller, faster and more power-efficient.

The Core i3 processors will address the entry-level PC market and the Core i5 will be aimed at midrange PC market. The Core i5 CPUs will support “Turbo Boost” that allows overclocking of single core if required by a process, and Hyperthreading that gives the ability to run more than one tread per core to again increase performance.

Along with the new processor lineup, Intel also revealed their next generation graphics engine that will be integrated with two processor cores in a single chip package. The new processors with integrated graphics will be part of “Arrandale” family that will address the laptop market. The graphics core is made using 45nm process technology and it can decode two HD streams simultaneously.

The GMCH chipset that will support Arrandale processors will support Dolby True HD and DTS-HD surround sound along with Blu-ray playback. According to Intel, by combining Processor cores and graphics engine in a single chip package they were able to not only increasing performance but overall power efficiency also.

Intel didn’t provide any information about pricing, specifications or release date, but said more information will be released at CES 2010.
