Toshiba has started sampling flash memory cards that support next generation Secure Digital eXtended Capacity (SDXC) standard. SDXC was designed to replace current Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) standard used in flash memory cards. The new standard replaces FAT32 file system with exFAT file system offering maximum theoretical capacity of 2TB and transfer speeds as high as 300MB/s. Toshiba has started sampling UHS104 SDXC cards in 64GB, 32GB and 16GB capacities and with read speed of 60MB/s and write speed of 35MB/s. Mass production of the new cards will start in spring 2010.
