Apple today announced the new iPhone 5s that features the world’s first 64-bit smartphone processor, Touch ID fingerprint sensor and all-new 8-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash.

“iPhone 5s is the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, delivering desktop class architecture in the palm of your hand,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5s sets a new standard for smartphones, packed into its beautiful and refined design are breakthrough features that really matter to people, like Touch ID, a simple and secure way to unlock your phone with just a touch of your finger."

The new A7 chip brings 64-bit desktop-class architecture to a smartphone for the first time. Along with the new chip Apple also engineered iOS 7 for 64-bit support bring twice the CPU and graphics performance when compared to iPhone 5. iPhone 5s also includes a new M7 motion coprocessor that gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to offload work from the A7 for improved power efficiency. Developers can also access new CoreMotion APIs that take advantage of M7, so they can create even better fitness and activity apps.

iPhone 5s introduces Touch ID, an innovative way to simply and securely unlock your iPhone with just the touch of a finger. Built into the home button, Touch ID uses a laser cut sapphire crystal, together with the capacitive touch sensor, to take a high-resolution image of your fingerprint and intelligently analyze it to provide accurate readings from any angle. All fingerprint information is encrypted and stored securely in the Secure Enclave inside the A7 chip on the iPhone 5s; it’s never stored on Apple servers or backed up to iCloud. Touch ID can also be used as a secure way to approve purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store.

The all-new 8-megapixel iSight camera features a larger f/2.2 aperture and a new, larger sensor with 1.5μ pixels for better sensitivity and low-light performance, resulting in better pictures. iPhone 5s introduces the new True Tone flash—the world’s first for any camera—that variably adjusts color and intensity for over 1,000 combinations, so photos taken with a flash appear more natural. iPhone 5s also includes a new Burst Mode, Slo-Mo video with 120 fps, a new FaceTime HD camera for better low-light performance and audio-only FaceTime calls with iOS 7.

iPhone 5s has support for up to 13 LTE wireless bands, more than any other smartphone in the world. With download speeds up to 100 Mbps, you can browse, download and stream content even faster. iPhone 5s includes dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support for up to 150 Mbps² and Bluetooth 4.0. iPhone 5s delivers an amazing 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks, up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi and LTE networks and up to 8 hours on 3G networks, and up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback.

We are doing live coverage of Apple’s iPhone media event at live.TechzTalk.com. It is rumored that Apple will announce the next gen iPhone 5S and completely new iPhone 5C, along with iOS 7 at today’s event. And just few moments ago we heard from our source that there would also be ‘One More Thing’ at today’s Apple Event. Continue following this page, as we will do live coverage here giving you the latest news from Apple event, which would start in about 40 mins.

Apple To Announce ‘One More Thing’ at Today’s Media Event

Submitted by lalit on September 10, 2013 - 11:14am.

Rumors are Apple will only focus on iOS 7, next generation iPhone 5S and completely new iPhone 5C at today’s media event. However, one of our sources says that there will be ‘One More Thing’ at the Apple event today. The source didn’t say what new product Apple will launch today, but hinted that the new product will be related to iOS.

We think this would mean that Apple might launch iPad 5 today or even the much-rumored iWatch. If Apple announces the new iPad, it will have design similar to current iPad mini and see drop in size and weight. It will also have an A7X processor and a Retina display that consumes less power.

Not much is known about the iWatch, rumors are that it will have biometric sensors to monitor your health stats and it won’t be anything like the Samsung Galaxy Gear that was announced few days back by Samsung to one-up Apple. The iWatch will be an extension of iOS devices and not just an accessory like the Galaxy Gear is for Galaxy Smartphones.

It looks like today’s Apple event is going to be very interesting. We will be doing live coverage of the event on live.TechzTalk.com at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST. Join us for more details.

WSJ Confirms Fingerprint Sensor on iPhone 5S and Leaked User Guide Reveals The Name “Touch ID Sensor”

Submitted by lalit on September 10, 2013 - 4:42am.

Yesterday, WSJ reported that Apple would include a fingerprint scanner on the top of the line iPhone models. Danny Yadron wrote on WSJ:

Apple Inc.’s latest product launch could breathe new life into a technology that failed to take hold the first time: fingerprint scanners. Placing a finger on a computer or smartphone has long been proposed as a way to avoid the need for passwords to authenticate users of computers and other devices. People familiar with the matter said last week that Apple will include a fingerprint scanner on the more expensive of two iPhones it is expected to unveil Tuesday at an event at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters.

And today, Nowhereelse.fr posted a image from iPhone 5S Guide that shows the new home button, which will also be called “Touch ID sensor”. Nowhereelse’s Steve claims that the image was sent by a very reliable source almost confirming the new home button with finger print sensor.

The new Touch ID sensor comes with a ring around it and from what we have heard the Home button will not only have finger print sensor, but also RFiD like technology built-in that will bring many new features to the iPhone 5S.
