T-Mobile is planning to increase 3G Coverage to 27 markets by end of 2008. The increase in 3G implementation speed is a direct result of the Google Android phone that T-Mobile plans to announce on September 23rd. The new handset is going to compete against the iPhone and will need 3G networks to make use of all its capabilities to the fullest.
The six areas that will get 3G after mid-October are Birmingham, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, Memphis and Tampa. Cole Brodman, chief development officer, T-Mobile said, “With the faster data speeds delivered by our 3G network, T-Mobile looks forward to offering mobile products and services that place the full power of the web in our customers’’ hands.” Again pointing towards upcoming T-Mobile Android handset.
