Memorex has launched a new Blu-ray player MVBD-2510, which is the first Blu-ray player to break the $300 barrier, its just $296. Like most Blu-ray player the MVBD-2510 supports full HD 1080p resolution and DVD up-conversion up to 1080p. The audio formats supported by the player are Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. The disc formats supported by the player include BD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, CD AND CD-R/-RW.
Though the feature set is not that impressive, this unit can start the price war that is need to make Blu-ray mainstream. By forcing more established players in the Blu-ray market to introduce lower price models. The MVBD-2510 will ship in November, just in time for holiday shopping season.
