Pandora’s founder Tim Westergren talked about iPhone’s effect on Pandora during his keynote at Digital Music Forum West conference. Pandora personalized radio streaming service has been popular since its launch. But release of Pandora application on the App Store has doubled the amount of users that Pandora is getting every day, from 20,000 to up to 40,000. According to Silicon Alley Insider there are about 1.5 million iPhone owners using Pandora, which is around 10 percent of total number of listeners using Pandora’s service. Tim also said that he listens to music via iTunes more than he listens to Pandora. According to Tim people won’t switch to Pandora and completely stop buying music, as music industry fears. He believes that store like iTunes may even benefit from services like Pandora, since the radio streaming service exposes people to new music that they may later buy from iTunes. Overall, it can be mutually beneficial relationship for both the groups. Reply |
