Rumors have been going around that Philips is working on a touchscreen phone for past few weeks. Today, Philips officially announced, not one but two touchscreen handsets the X800 and X-Connect. The X800 is a low-end touchscreen phone with 2.9” screen with 240 X 400 resolution, 2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and handwriting recognition. The phone support tri-band GSM/GPRS (no 3G or even EDGE) and has a battery life of 8 hours talk time. The higher-end X-connect will have 3” screen, GPS, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. The Windows Mobile 6 based phone will support 3G via UMTS/HSDPA. There is no word on pricing or availability for both phones yet.
