Asustek’s President Jerry Shen told investors that Asus would ship a total of 6.6 million mini-notebooks Eee PCs in 2008. That will be a 50% year-over-year increase as 4.3 million units were shipped in 2007. He said that the growth would be despite component shortage and rising cost concerns. Shen estimated that the market size for mini-notebooks should hit 10 million mark this year, meaning the company will grab more then 50% market share. Asustek will use both the Atom and Celeron M processors to off set the Atom processor shortage. It is no secret that Eee PC has been huge success, but as the competition increases will Asus be able to maintain their market share above 50% in 2009.
