According to a report by Commercial Times newspaper, Taiwanese component suppliers for the iPhone 3G will see their revenues strengthen substantially starting the third quarter of this year. The paper quoted sources at component suppliers saying that, as the new iPhone 3G will be available simultaneously in 22 countries on July 11, they expect shipment of iPhone 3G to top 10 million units for third quarter alone. The paper also quoted Morgan Stanley’s estimate that Apple will sell 27 million iPhone units in 2009. Apple will start selling iPhone 3G in more than 70 countries by end of 2008. If Apple were able to sell just 100 thousand iPhones in each of these countries, they would have sold 7 million iPhone by end of 2008. We know for sure that in some countries Apple will sell more than ten times that number. So it is everyone’s guess what will be the number at the end of 2008.
