New Flash Memory Card Standard By 2009

A new flash memory standard called Universal Flash Storage (UFS), which will allow for larger memory capacities and faster access speeds is on its way. Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson and many other companies are backing the upcoming format. According to Nokia access time will drop to just few seconds for a 4GB file, which at present is more then 3 minutes. JEDEC Solid State Technology Association is expected to finalize the standard by 2009.
