Apple will release their latest cat today and the main question asked is will consumer face the same difficulties they faced or are still facing by upgrading to Vista? The past record indicates that upgrading Mac OS X has been relatively painless process, but it’s always good to take precautions then to suffer consequences. Few things that everyone should do before upgrading their OS are Back-up your data (if possible back up the whole hard drive), Repair disk permissions using Disk Utility, Verify disk and repair it if it needs to be repaired again using Disk Utility and its most important know what installation options do you want to use. There are three install options available, Upgrade, Archive and Install, and Erase and Install. Each option has its good and bad points. MacFixit has posted detailed guidelines for common issues that occur during upgrade process, including pre-update preparation, proper installation and post-update maintenance. You must read the guidelines before upgrading your Mac OS to Leopard.
