Firefox’s Mobile UI for Touchscreen is Almost Like the iPhone’s Safari Browser

Dougt’s blog has posted mockup, which incorporates the idea that user should have maximum space for the web and the UI should not come in users way. There is a translucent icon over the content, if you press it a dock appears showing tools (options). Though the idea of giving more space to the web is good but I don’t mind ¼ of an inch of space given to the menu like the iPhone’s browser does. I don’t want to click twice, once to get the dock up and once to access the option. Removing everything is not a solution rather keeping just what you need most will definitely help and it should be just one click away. The browser UI is definitely inspired by the iPhone though they have just gone ahead and made it wee bit different by adding more steps to do the same thing. I hope Firefox will keep it simple and let the basic functions be there like the iPhone’s browser.
