Two more nails in HD-DVD coffin. Its almost sealed shut and the format need to be buried now. Netflix the online/mail video rental service today announced that it will only buy Blu-Ray disc going forward and will phase out HD-DVD by end of 2008. Netflix said “We’re now at the point where the industry can pursue the migration to a single format, bring clarity to the consumer and accelerate the adoption of high-def.” Best Buy also announced that it would promote Blu-Ray over HD-DVD. Best Buy’s president Brain Dunn said, “Consumers have told us that they want us to help lead the way” and Best Buy is leading the way toward Blu-Ray. FeedBurner |
