Google Android No More an iPhone Imitation.

I always felt that Android’s UI was a bad imitation of iPhone’s UI. But yesterday Google released a new version of Android SDK, making significant UI and API changes. The Mac OS Dock like interface at the bottom of screen has been replaced by tray of buttons. There are similar changes to the web browser and Google Maps also, making it less similar to the Mac or iPhone. Which gives me hope that the Google Android won’t just copy the iPhone but rather give a very good competing alternative to the smartphone UI king the iPhone. Google has made some major under the hood changes also, layout animations makes transitions within and between apps smoother, app can now translate address to map coordinates and back, and audio formats such as MIDI and OGG are built-in. With this update Android as a platform has improved greatly and I think it will keep getting better.
