Nokia has added Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) to its phone that comes with Nokia Maps 2.0 software. Nokia will charge a premium for the service, as it is an add-on to the basic service. Nokia’s representative said “by adding RTTI, Nokia can save precious time for drivers by alerting them of traffic, construction or other road hazards that could affect their journey. When Nokia Maps receives the road updates from ARC, the application can dynamically re-route during navigation and provide a faster route.” The service will be available in 16 countries and Nokia will be partnering with ARC Transistance. The only problem with GPS on mobile phone is its very slow, if Nokia can change that very soon personal navigation devices will become obsolete.
