Take Two announced that it sold more than 6 million copies of Grand Theft Auto IV and made around $500 million in first week sales. Making GTA the largest launch in the history of gaming industry. GTA stomped past Halo 3’s record of $300 million in first week sales. On the opening day GTA sold 3.6million copies for a total of $310 million in revenue, again making it biggest launch day sales ever. So GTA went past Halo 3’s first week sales record in just one day. Strauss Zelnick CEO of Take Two said, “Grand Theft Auto IV’s first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date.”
