AT&T’s 3G Network will be Five Times Faster at 20Mbps by 2009Submitted by lalit on May 14, 2008 - 11:50am.
Speaking at Morgan Stanley’s annual Communications Conference, AT&T chief Ralph de la Vega said, the company’s HSPA network would be improved from the theoretical peak downloads of 3.6Mbps to 20Mbps in 2009. The improvement would not require major hardware upgrade but will be primarily a software upgrade for the network. This improvement will make the network speeds for AT&T comparable to the network speeds achieved by WiMax. De la Vega further added that AT&T will offer 4G network starting in 2010 and will use the 700MHz spectrum it bought last month. The Long Term Evolution (LTE) based 4G network will have peak download speeds of 100Mbps. Ralph de la Vega said, “ The future is all about data,” we completely agree with that, more the bandwidth better it is. FeedBurner |
