Apple to Use LED Backlit LCDs for All Its Laptops in 2009Submitted by lalit on May 21, 2008 - 4:40pm.
A Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily is reporting that LCD backlight manufacturer Kenmos Technology, the main supplier of LED backlights to Apple will have an even more dominant role next year as Apple switches its consumer models to LED based LCDs. Kenmos has already shipped 1.5 million LED backlights in first four months this year, five times more compared to the total shipment last year. Steve Jobs has promised that Apple would switch to more environment friendly LED based LCDs as soon as it is economically feasible. It is believed that Apple will introduce redesigned Macbook that will use aluminum in place of plastic for outer casing and will have Intel’s new Centrino 2 platform, but will it get LED backlit screen is yet not know. It is very likely that the next Macbook update after the upcoming re-design will have LED backlit LCDs. FeedBurner |
