Sharp has announced that they will soon ship the world’s thinnest auto focus, 5-megapixel camera module with CMOS sensor. The thin camera module has a signal-to-noise ratio of 1.6 times greater than the best camera module currently available, resulting in higher-quality images. The 0.25” thickness of the module is achieved by using flat-screen lens and high-density auto-focusing CMOS sensor.  The 0.37” x 0.37” module is called RJ63SC100 and is aimed at cell phones and other small form factor devices. Sample modules will ship by end of this month and full production will start on June 30th.
