AMD’s ATI division today announced the Firestream 9250 professional graphics card based on the upcoming RV770 GPU. According to AMD the new GPU can deliver more than 1TFlops, to be precise 1.2TFlops per RV770 GPU. Ten years back if you want to get 1TFlops performance from your computer you would have needed 5000 Pentium pro processors. The power consumption of the new 9250 models has increased from 150W required by 8170 GPU model to 170 watts. By using 4x Crossfire X configuration one can almost get 5TFlops out of one computer alone. AMD has not announced any price or released day for the Firestream 9250 card. FeedBurner |
