AMD Developing Processor For Ultraportable Notebooks

AMD is also jumping of ultraportable bandwagon and is developing a 1GHz single core chip. The new chip will have 64-bit instruction set, DDR2 400 support, HyperTransport and 8W TDP. There will be 128KB L1 cache and 256KB L2 cache on the chip. It looks like AMD finally decided to develop an ultra low voltage chip. Nonetheless, it would be really difficult for AMD to get any traction, as the 1GHz Intel Atom processor has a TDP of just 2.5W.
