Rumors Roundup: Steve Job’s Keynote at Macworld 2008

Submitted by lalit on January 15, 2008 - 11:43am.

Ever year Apple announces its biggest new products at Macworld. This year also it going to be the same, there are many rumors going around. But as always no one know for sure what Steve Job will announce today. There are few rumors that are quite interesting and there is a high possibility that they will come true.

Ultra-thin & light notebook (Macbook Air): This rumor has been around for past 2 years that Apple will release a sub 3 pound notebook, it looks like this year Apple will definitely release the sub-notebook. It is believed that the notebook will have 13” display, less than 3 pounds and will be around 0.75” thick. Some website are claiming that the notebook will have multi-touch and will not include built-in optical drive.

Online movie rentals: This rumor was fueled by the discovery of code lines in iTunes related to movies and TV shows rentals. New York Times has also reported that Apple is in talk with major movie studios and Fox has joined Apple for this service. Later it was also reported that few more studios are also with Apple and the deal will be announced at Macworld 2008. Some website also reported that you will be able to use Apple TV to directly download content without the help of the computer. There is a very high possibility that this rumor will also come true at the Macworld.

iPhone SDK and new software: Apple had announced that they will release the iPhone SDK in Feb 2008 and I am sure that Apple will give details about the SDK at the Macworld.

One more thing: Like always Steve will have one more thing what it will be that only Steve can tell. There are few other rumors going around like Newton-tablet and new desktop but I don’t thing Apple will announce any of those things. Apple have posted “There’s something in the air” on there website and at Macworld Expo, something in the air can refer to the new Macbook Air or the online movie rental. We will come to know what exactly is in the “Air” in just few hours.
